Vagabond Welcome to my home !

Update - May 2007

Summer 2007: Le Vagabond on the road again... and following Ernesto Guevara's steps!

This is a major update of my website. You probably already noticed that the main menu had changed to be more logic about the links to my travel text and pictures pages and now include a list of texts (in French) available on this website. If you don't read French, you'll enjoy the little films and vidéos that I've put on YouTube. Also, I've put up a lot of new stuff: Two brand new pages with over than 45 pictures of the aera of Quebec City and Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean. I also propose a new illustrated short story (in French) written during the convention Boréal 2007. Last but not least, some new pictures of the Big Apple on my New York page, since I was in NY a couple of weeks ago. Enjoy!

Welcome on Vagabond, my home on the web.

I don't know if you remember that TV show, The Littlest Hobo. It was about a dog without a real home, who was traveling a lot and making friends on the road. I don't think we never knew the dog's name, but the dog never settled down, he'd always moved on, traveling and trying to be useful wherever life leads him. While writing this intro to my website, even the song came back to me... and that's pretty much the spirit of this site, by the way, since the french title of The Littlest Hobo was... Le Vagabond.

After I realized that I don't have a real home myself, I've decided to settled... on Internet! Indeed, I live in many places, wherever I am and wherever lifes's calling me, without a place to really call home while traveling nor in Canada.

And since I have some stuff on the net, I've noticed that I'm kinda everywhere. My litterary activities are on one site, I have a few pages about my travels or my life in Canada (in BC and in Québec), and I don't make the list of all the pages with pictures that I've put there for friends, and not even linked to a main page somewhere to be able to find your way through. Anyway, enough virtual mess, this website is the place, now! It's my official presence on the net. Ultimately, the project is to group here everything I have online. For now, it's a first draft, mainly oriented on my travels, but I'm working to rebuild all my other pages to fit them here and presenting one website to be. After all, it's my home! :)

A few notes:

A word on the language. Sometimes, I write in english or in spanish, even if my first language is french. I don't really care about the language I use here. I'm a mix coming from many influences; my travels, the people I met in my life, everything, so it happens that I think in english or spanish. This website is mainly in french, though, but with a good portion in english and/or spanish. And to be honnest, it would be too much work to translate everything in three languages, and imagine when I'll learn a fourth one!

For now, the tab Activités Littéraires and a few links on the Europe page are going to lead you to external pages - I'll try to integrate and update these pages as soon as possible. A few links also lead to a «work in progress» note if the pages are not completed yet.

IMPORTANT NOTICE about the pictures (and there's quite a few): the pages with pictures may be long to load in your browser, but once loaded, the access to the actual large format picture is pretty fast. And since there's limits to web and speed connexion, I made compromise between file size and resolution.

For the next update, I'll create a «what's new» page to facilitate the consultation as well.

And until everything would be put all together here, every comment is welcome.

Enjoy!

Hugh Morin

There's a voice that keeps on calling me
Down the road is where I'll always be
Every stop I make, I'll make a new friend
Can't stay for long, just turn around and I'm gone again.

Il se peut qu'un beau jour
Je me repose enfin
Jusqu'à ce jour
Je poursuis mon parcours
